Sailing Away!
Jenny, Kyle, Natalie, and Stephanie
Kyle found a comfy spot to crash on Heather. Our first day was a sea day which gave us a chance to explore the ship and have some fun in the pool!
Grace and Natalie lovin' the pool!
This was Kyle's 1st time swimming. He was quite nervous at first but there was a shallow splash area along the side that he eventually enjoyed crawling through.
Natalie, Laura, Zack, Dad/Granddaddy/Bob, and Ashley
Todd and Heather hanging out poolside.
Kyle loves to play with people's hats (He loved Stephanie's) but he hates to have anything on his own head. He needs to learn the importance of wearing a hat by winter however. Our first port was Ketchikan, Alaska. It is the rainiest city in the state, set in a rainforest, the Tongass National Forest. Mom, Dad, me, Chris, and Jenny went on a zipline canopy tour while Heather and Todd played parents to our kids. (Thanks you guys!)
Chris zipping along!
Chris and Jenny havin' a blast!
One of the bridges we walked across.A glimpse at our Zipline Canopy Tour
Ketchikan is known for their many decorative totem poles.
They are also known for their lumberjack show!
A good time was had by all!Our 2nd port was Juneau, Alaska's capital, which is only accessible by air or boat since it is landlocked by the high mountains that surround it.
Here is the Mendenhall Glacier. This is as close as you can get by foot. It is much larger than it seems in the picture, however. The waterfall on the right, for example, has people standing at the bottom.
Grace liked climbing along the rocks. (as usual)
We took the tram to the top of Mt. Roberts. (Below, you can see our cruise ship.)
There was a spectacular view looking down on Juneau.
